MSPrebiotic Resistant Potato Starch is certified Glyphosate Residue Free by The Detox Project

CARBERRY, Manitoba, February 5, 2020 – MSPrebiotic®, the world’s only supplement grade resistant potato starch, has added another certification to its roster speaking to the unique quality of their product.  The Detox Project has certified MSPrebiotic Glyphosate Residue Free, verifying that levels of the most commonly applied herbicide are undetectable.

Glyphosate-based herbicides are routinely used in the production of conventional crops and GMO ‘Roundup-ready’ corn and soybeans.  In addition to weed control, glyphosate is used to kill and dry certain conventional crops prior to harvest.  This prevalence means that glyphosate residue is even making its way to organic produce, which is not normally tested for the chemical.  Collectively, this has led to growing public concern over exposure to the chemical.

According to Henry Rowlands, Director of The Detox Project, “There is a growing public awareness on the issues surrounding the use of glyphosate-based herbicides and this has led to over 60 brands and over 1500 products now being fully certified as Glyphosate Residue Free.”

The Detox Project certifies products that have gone through analysis for levels of glyphosate by third-party ISO-certified laboratories regularly throughout the year.  Glyphosate Residue Free certified products must have no glyphosate residues down to government-recognized limits of detection for food, commodity, and supplement samples (generally 0.01 ppm), and lower levels than default government Maximum Residue Limits in the European Union and Japan, which have the most stringent regulations.

“Our gut microbiota is incredibly sensitive and even small variables can have unintended impacts.  Consistent quality and transparency are essential.  Obtaining third-party certifications give our customers confidence in the clean label offering we stand by,” comments Jason Leibert, VP of Business Development at MSPrebiotic.

In addition to being certified Glyphosate Residue Free, MSPrebiotic is also a FODMAP Friendly Approved Product, certified by the Gluten-Free Certification Program, and verified by the Non-GMO Project.

Resistant starch (RS) is the most widely consumed prebiotic in history and is only found in small amounts in modern diets around the world.  MSPrebiotic delivers the highest concentration of RS2 and is the only supplement-grade source available on the market. This patented natural prebiotic contains gently dried, peeled potatoes, labels as dietary fiber and is grown, processed and packaged in North America. MSPrebiotic is supported by over a decade of research demonstrating increases in healthy endogenous bacteria, increases in butyrate, a fuel for the epithelial cells of the large intestine and improvements in metabolism.

About The Detox Project

The Detox Project is a research and certification platform that encourages transparency on the subject of toxic chemicals in the food and supplement industries.  Additionally, they promote unique new testing technologies to determine the levels of toxic chemicals in both food and the human body.  The Detox Project has been involved in several groundbreaking studies, including research on the world’s most used herbicide, glyphosate and will continue to work at government and investor levels to support novel technology alternatives to chemical herbicides.
